Fishing Report 8/27/06

With my filming date just days away, Steve Kelly and I decided to give Wickiup a shot for big browns up in the Deschutes Channel. I would be working with Gary Miralles and producer Justin Wolfe in an episode of Angler West TV in a few days. Time for some serious pre-fishing!

We didn't get out until late afternoon and started out from the ramp across from Twin Lakes resort. My first fish was the biggest of the outing and was right at 6 LB. He came as we were making a turn in a favorite part of the channel where we have done well in the past few weeks. The trip a few weeks before with Ed Stanley had produced several browns to 6 LB. that evening and we were hoping to repeat that feat.

Unfortunately, nothing any bigger showed up and I believe we ended up with a total of 7 browns to 6 LB. Kelly did get a nice 4 Lb. fish but we neglected to get photos of it.

The water remains at a very high level for this late in the summer. Shades of the late 90's and early 2000's when fishing the arm was really hot. I will be hoping that we can pop a big brown for the show.
