Fishing Report 8-2-05

Albert with a nice brownieWith my son-in-law and Grandson in town it was just a matter of time before we were on the water. We decided to give Wickiup a try because I haven't been there in a while and was dying to see if things had changed much since I was there last in June. The water is way down as is usual for this time of year considering that we are still in a drought here in Central Oregon. I think the lake level is approximately 88,000 acre feet and falling a 1,000 a day right now.

We didn't get out until around 4:30 in the evening and were just content to get a few hours in before dark. The first fish was a 7 Lb. hookjaw that took a Luckycraft custom painted pointer in a size 128. We missed the next fish after a couple of giant head shakes. My son-in-law was murmuring about how big it felt and moaning that it got off. We landed 5 more browns before we had to get off and the smallest was over 3 LB. A very nice outing and we will probably be back for more later this week. I will have photos up when available......I need to get me a digital soon!
