Some times when it heats up, the fishing does to. You wouldn't think that applies to brown trout fishing, but at East Lake in Newberry Crater, good fishing for browns has been the rule rather than the exception for the last few weeks.
Several of my friends from the valley and some locals from Bend have been tearing up the browns both in numbers and size. On a recent trip to the lake, local Jordan Whitten from bend stuck several nice browns on a recent outing including a 9 LB. hookjaw that just so happens to be his biggest brown trout to date. Jordan is just a teenager but a sharp angler who I predict will be a top notch trophy trout angler for many years to come.
Word came in from Brian Wildish that his group accounted for several nice browns to 7 LB. on there last outing to the lake. Katey stuck a nice brown of 6 Lb. and Darin got into the act with a 7 LB. brown. They had several other fish in the 3-4 Lb. range. Nice browns wherever you fish for them!
Dan McAllister has done real well with a load of browns on his last trip including one of the prettiest browns you will ever see. The hookjaw was around 7 Lb. and about as gorgeous as brown trout get.
Congrats to you all on some spectacular trophy brown trout results.
Tight Lines, Rick
