Fishing
Report 7-25-05
My
buddy from Edward Jones, Mark Burford brought his visiting
friend from Kansas City, Val Budd. It was a post card morning
with only a slight breeze and not a cloud in the sky. Perfect
trolling weather as I like to say.
We got on the water around 6:00 a.m. and were working my
little hole that has been pretty good to me of late. The
preceding two trips had produced 36 brown trout to 4 Lb.
by mid morning for the two days.
We are on the same pattern of fish at 25 to 40 feet with
stickbaits on leadcore and downriggers. I'm beginning to
sound like a broken record but that is how the fish respond
during midsummer when they get into the thermocline. We
quit by noon with 11 fish and Val got into a beautiful,
hookjaw brown that was just a fraction under 7 Lb. on my
Rapala gripper scale. Those are the trophies we all hope
to get.
Look for my upcoming article about the best vacation of
my life up in Yellowstone a week ago. We hammered some incredible
kokanee at Flaming Gorge to boot. Some fantastic photos
as well......
Tight Lines, Rick
