Bull
Trout 4-29-05
Darrell
Fevergeon joined me to celebrate his birthday and it turned
out to be quite a celebration. He met me at the ramp around
5:30 a.m. and we headed up to the island where the kokanee
and the bulls have been hanging out for the last month at
least.
Since
the Lyman plugs have been so effective lately, I put two
out early. Within the first half hour, Darrell had landed
bulls of 6,7,8, and 9.5 lb. It was looking like a great
day if this held up. I believe we had caught and released
10 bulls by 1:00 and ended up with 15 for the day. Most
of the fish were coming in 15 to 30 feet of water and we
caught a few running the riggers shallow on the deeper side
of the boat while working a lure that runs shallower on
the inside.
In
the early afternoon Darrel got chewed off on the 6 in. Lyman
on a bigger bull that he had worked to the boat twice before
he took off on a smoking run across the top and the line
popped. We guessed it to be around 10 lb. We had a great
time and those are my best numbers of fish so far this season.
That was actually 29 bulls for the two trips that week with
13 of those over 5 lb.
I
have some Pro-Troll promo trips coming up in mid-May and
then may be moving up to the higher lakes if things work
out. Stay tuned for further developments.
