Lake
Billy Chinook 4-17-05 through 4-18-05
The
promo trip with Houseboating Adventures magazine was a bust
on the catching end of things. I took out two different
groups from the houseboat but we didn't get started until
10:30 a.m. The first group of young adults didn't really
want to stay out very long so I took them back within an
hour. The second group wanted to fish so we worked it in
vain. The wind got up to a steady 20 mph and the bulls just
weren't cooperating that day. I enjoyed meeting Mike and
Todd Low and we made the best of a slow day.
The next day was a promo trip with Ray Hobart and Mike
Lee from Hammertime Home Center in Sunriver. Luckily, the
wind subsided overnight and we had much better conditions
on Mon. We hooked and released 5 bulls to 6.75 LB and were
even back in early. It was a much more enjoyable day with
blue skies and a few intermittent showers sprinkled through
the morning. All the fish came within a 100 yard area near
the island. We ran Lyman plugs with and without the EChip.
The one with did better by 4 to 1. Something to think about!
With
the regular trout season coming up, I will be back at Crescent
to pursue browns this coming Fri. and Sat. Next week I have
two more guide trips to Billy. Look for a write up on the
opener early next week.
