Big Bulls busting loose...
I got a call from one of my fishing buddies last night.
Chris Rowton called to say that he had one of the best days
ever on Billy Chinook for bigger bulls. He took one of his
coworkers up last Tues. for their first outing on bulls
since the arm opened on March 1st. They got out early and
were fishing by 6:30 a.m. in front of the island.
The first fish was a nice bull of 6.5 lb. Soon they
followed up with a 7 and then a 10. The action was fast
and furious and by 7:45 they had caught 8 bulls to 13 lb.
They picked another fish around noon for a total of 9 bulls
to 13 lb. with 4 over 10 lb! That is an amazing day by anybody's
standards. They also witnessed another boat catch and release
a bull estimated between 15-16 lb. I will see if I can get
some of their photos up next week.
I have heard of bulls up to 17 lb. so far this year and
won't be surprised if a 20 lb. bull comes out this spring.
I may do some pre-fishing before an upcoming guide trip
later next week so check back for current reports.
