I met Rich Higgs at the Redmond show last year. We were both working this years (2007) show and he approached me about a bull trout trip this spring.
We got out this past Sat. He and a friend met me at the ramp to cold and windy conditions. Fairly typical for this time of year in Central Oregon.
It turned out to be a tough day with only one small bull coming in the island area on a herring/slingblade set-up. That was a around 1:00 p.m. The weather had been all over the place with rain, sun, and winds to 20-25mph. It was a long day.
Finally at 6:00 p.m.,we got into a bite. Rich landed the nicest bull, a big hookjaw male about 9.5 LB. Dave caught some smaller bulls to around 4 LB. and if I remember right, we caught a released (4) in the last hour. Rich did keep the big bull. All the evening fish were caught working the shoreline.
