Fishing
Report 3-12-06
I
got a call from a fellow trophy trout junkie on Fri. that
I just have to share. Dan McAllister, his Dad Jerry and
brother Dave had a trip to Crescent planned and pulled it
off in spite of horrendous conditions at the lake. After
all the recent snows and coupled with some major ice in
the bay in front of the resort, they managed to finally
hit some water to fish. Boy, did it pay off.
I
won't go into great length about all the circumstances because
Dan will have all the details up on his reports page at
Jimmy Lewis's site trophytrouthunter.com
by now. I want to take the opportunity to congratulate Jerry
for catching his first brown over 10 LB. and releasing it,
to boot! I believe that this is the first brown caught in
Oregon over 10 LB. in 2006! I'm sure that he would agree
that a lot of the credit goes to his son Dan, who has been
targeting trophy trout for several years now. Dan is another
of the up and coming young guns in the trophy trout world
from the Willamette Valley, here in Oregon.
Dan was responsible for my 5.75 LB. brookie a couple of
years ago. He invited me to fish with him and we had a "brookie"
day to remember, with 9 fish landed and another 5 LB. fish
lost at the boat, it was a trip I will never forget.
Check out these photos of their trip. I will say that they
caught all their fish, including the 10 LB. brown on Excalibur
Minnows. Funny, where I have I heard the name of that lure?
Maybe Pradco will bring it back someday.
Tight Lines, Rick
