I just got word from my friend Dan McAllister from Trophy Trout Hunter that their trip to LBC this past weekend was a little tougher than previous winter trips. He said they were seeing quite a few bulls in front of the ramp at Cove Palisades but they were reluctant to bite. He was fishing with Brian Wildish and Jordan Whitten. They were graphing some kokanee balls and bulls from that area up to the Deschutes Arm where it dumps into the Crooked Arm.
The other area that was holding fish was up by the boundary line near the dam. They also tested some of the new production A/C plugs for us and had some strikes on the new 7" stickbait. The biggest bull trout went 6 LB. and they did pick up some smaller bulls and browns to 20 in. way up the Deschutes Arm when things got really slow.
I just got back from the Portland Show and hope to finally get out to LBC myself with Steve Kelly this coming Fri. if his flu subsides. I will be up there with Tom Staley next week for sure. If you are interested in a guided bull trout trip, I still have some openings for the last half of March and most of April at this point. Watch for my reports this coming week.
Tight Lines, Rick
