2 Monster Rainbows in One Trip!
One of my "Brownbagger" buddy's sent me a Christmas card with photo's of (2) monstrous gerrard rainbows ( 20 LB.and 23 LB.+) from a trip this fall. Curiosity getting the best of me, I called Gordon to get details of their trip. Turned out that he and "Pop" had ventured north to fish the latter part of Oct. and early Nov.
The father / son duo had been doing fairly well fishing Pend Oreille the last few years with several fish in the teens and a few over 20 to 22 LB. This year they decided to return to BC, as they had fished that area a few years back. Turned out to be a good move. Pend Oreille did not produce the normal stats of fish over 20 LB. this fall.
Both of the big rainbows came on gear fished off planer boards. This is one of the most productive and exciting ways to fish for the kams. This technique seems to work effectively on any of the lakes that hold the big gerrards in BC or the US.
These guys have a tremendous track record on big browns here in Central Oregon with (9) over 10 LB. between the two of them. Gordon's biggest was a 22 LB. + hen from Paulina and Pop has a 15 LB. buck from the same lake.
Congrats to you both on another monumental trip!
Tight Lines,
Rick
